Light-hearted, witty and at times scandalous, this program spotlights the thrilling and seductive music of the Belle Époque. Along with a collection of French cabaret art songs, the evening includes a performance of "Le bal masque" from Francis Poulenc, the enormously gifted French composer who composed everything from surrealist operas to some of the 20th century's most moving liturgical music. The talented and always adventurous concert:nova musicians will also perform selections from Erik Satie, the avant-garde composer and satirist who brought innovation and playfulness to his compositions, foreshadowing movements like minimalism and Theatre of the Absurd. It all adds up to a great evening of darkly humorous, sexy and fun music. 7:30-9:30 pm
