Peter Seifert will share the story of his uncle, Dr. Walter Linse. He had strong feelings for justice and the rule of law, not easy to live by under the Nazis and then the Communists in East Germany. Peter learned of his uncle's conflicts about 10 years ago, from historians and from his own research. As much as possible, Linse supported Jewish business people during the Nazi years and entrepreneurs in East Germany during the Communist regime. Evidence is hard to find and to prove, because he had to hide his true intentions from the respective authorities. Several examples feel like a political action thriller. But for Linse, they were real and dangerous. Relief came only when in 1949 he fled from the Communists to West Berlin, a western style democracy and a place of safety - he thought.
