Hot Rize is a
traditional-yet-progressive bluegrass band that rose to prominence in the early
1980s. During the next decade Hot Rize appeared frequently on such national
broadcasts like A Prairie Home Companion and Ralph
Emery Show.
The group has performed in almost every state, as well as Europe, Japan, and Australia. The band played together and issued 6 studio albums until they disbanded in 1990. Following the death in 1999 of Charles Sawtelle, Hot Rize re-grouped in 2002, adding Bryan Sutton to play the guitar.
