Madcap Puppets - The Firebird - Cincinnati Event

Based on the 1919 Firebird Suite composed by Igor Stravinsky, Madcap presents the tale of Ivan, the bird of fire and Katchai the magician. The Firebird is a visual feast, performed as a giant shadow puppet ballet with Stravinsky's wonderfully narrative symphonic music. In the story, Ivan captures the bird of fire and decides to free her; in return the firebird gives the boy a magic feather that will bring her to his side when he needs help. Seeing that the boy has the magic feather, Katchai unleashes his minion to combat Ivan but through Ivan's compassion and the return of the Firebird, Katchai the magician is finally defeated.
