Cincinnati Sound Chorus announces the concert "Fantasy in Four Parts" to be held on Saturday November 23 at 7:30 pm in the auditorium of the College of Mount Saint Joseph in Delhi. Featured guests include the Barbershop Harmony Society's Fantasy Quartet, who will appear in this one night only appearance. The four members of this quartet were elected by members of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) as being the best singers in each of the four parts of this American art form. Each member has been named an international champion in one or more quartets. Between them, these four singers have won TEN international championship medals and numerous other awards. Lead singer Joe Connelly, a Cincinnati native, has recently returned to his West Side roots. Connelly achieved barbershop history for being the first person ever to become a BHS International Championship gold medalist four times, first with Interstate Rivals in 1987 at the age of 22, then with Keepsake in 1992, with Platinum in 2000, and with Old School in 2011. Connelly coaches men's and women's quartets and choruses full time and was the musical director for Cincinnati's Southern Gateway Chorus in 2012. As tenor in the quartet Vocal Spectrum, Tim Waurick was named BHS's collegiate champion in 2004 and International Quartet Champion in 2006. Tony DeRosa has won three international championships, singing either lead or baritone with Keepsake (1992), Platinum (2000) and Max Q (2007). DeRosa directed the Sweet Adelines Toast of Tampa Chorus to third place International Medalists in November 2013. Texas resident bass singer Jeff Oxley has won international championship medals with Acoustix (1990) and The Rapscallions (1984). "Fantasy in Four Parts" features the award winning Cincinnati Sound Chorus, its smaller vocal ensemble Sound Effects and CSC's quartets. Two regional championship quartets will also be performing: iTones, the 2013 Sweet Adelines International Region 4 quartet champion and Spot On, the 2013 Harmony Incorporated Area 4 quartet champion. CSC member Fran Furtner (Madeira) sings bass with iTones and former member Joy Coleman (Maineville) sings lead with Spot On. Tickets can be ordered online at www.cincyticket.com. Ticket prices are: $25 VIP, $20 and $15. Discounts for children and large groups are also available. Cincinnati Sound Chorus is an award winning a cappella women's chorus and member of Sweet Adelines International. We are young women of all ages, from all walks of life, who share a passion for singing. We are affiliated with Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance. Sweet Adelines International, created in 1945, is a singing organization of women whose purpose is to teach and perform the American folk art of a cappella, four-part harmony, barbershop style, and to encourage a universal appreciation of the traditions of that music through education and performance.
