Summer Archaeology Field Camp - Cincinnati Event

Explore the archaeology and history behind Devou Park! The students will use compasses, historic maps, GIS, Google Earth and other modern tools to search for cemeteries and old house sites. They will learn archaeological excavation techniques as they search for newly discovered early nineteenth century houses sites in the Park. During the week, they will hike to the Civil War fortification sites and visit a local cemetery to learn about grave markers and grave marker symbolism. They will wash and catalog the artifacts they collect for the Museum's collections, learning how to identify and interpret them. Ages 11-15. Time: 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost: $175 members, $225 future members
