Forward Into The Past - Cincinnati Event

Forward Into the Past will feature lens-based art by Jens Rosenkrantz. An opening reception will be held Friday, January 11, 5-8 pm. A gallery talk with Mr. Rosenkrantz will take place on January 12 at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Rosenkrantz uses old maps, transferred photos, and salvaged windows to create timeless views of Cincinnati. His work challenges the viewer to consider the importance of preserving our history and heritage in the 21st century. "Mr. Rosenkrantz combination of historic and contemporary materials reminds us that in a city like Cincinnati, the past is ever present through the historic architecture and streetscapes we encounter daily," says Julie Carpenter, Betts House executive director. In addition to his studio at the Pendleton Art Center, Mr. Rosenkrantz work has been displayed at many regional venues including PAC Gallery, Fifth Street Gallery, and Carnegie Art Center. Mr. Rosenkrantz also operates La Poste Eatery in Clifton and Django Western Taco in Northside. Forward Into the Past, is the final exhibit in The Betts House's 2012-2013 exhibit series The Art of the Built Environment, supported by a Project Support Grant from ArtsWave (www.theArtsWave.org).
